12/11 Class: Ann Hamilton’s the event of a thread @ Park Avenue Armory

For our final plug-in week on 12/11 we’ll be visiting Ann Hamilton’s the event of a thread installation at the Park Avenue Armory. The description on e-flux indicates that the project explores many themes we’ve addressed throughout the semester: the materiality of media formats, obsolescence, the voice and discourse, the physical space of the archive, processes of record-making, methods of historiography, etc. We should have a lot to talk about!

Our tickets have been paid for in advance. We’ll meet at the Armory, at 643 Park Avenue (at 67th Street), at 4:15pm (to allow a little extra transit time, in case you’re coming uptown from TNS), and we’ll wrap up around 5:30 (again, to allow transit time back to campus).
