Fire at Internet Archive

I meant to post this last week, but forgot to finish and publish!
There was a fire at the Internet Archive headquarters last week. Apparently, they did not lose any data, but they did lose some physical materials waiting to be archived, and also some expensive equipment.
This incident got me thinking about the fragile nature of records and archives, and I thought it might interest some of you as well.
If you’re interested in learning more (and/or donating) you can read more about it on their blog here.

  1. Thanks for posting, Ateqah! I shared this with my Archives class, but didn’t think to post the news in UMA, too!
It’s interesting that we don’t think of the lost books as “lost data,” isn’t it?
