Mathew Battles discusses his book Library: An Unquiet History, offering a distinguished portrait of the library, its endurance and destruction throughout history. Battles traces how the library’s meaning was questioned or altered according to the climate of the time. He will present a world tour of libraries from ancient times to the present digital age, making stops in Nineveh and Alexandria, Athens and Baghdad. How did communities first imagine the concept of libraries and how did libraries evolve? What will libraries look like in the future?
