Skip will discuss the films that have influenced him such as The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and How the West Was Won (1962), his body of work including The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) and The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001), as well as his most recent experience in the current landscape on Gravity.
 
Skip Lievsay is one of the most distinguished and prolific sound masters in the film industry.  This year Skip won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing on Gravity and was nominated in the same category for Inside Llewyn Davis.  Gravity, in particular, features one of the most innovative sound mixes to make its way to theaters.  Once the sound was mixed for Gravity, 3D computer simulation placed individual bits of audio in extremely specific locations within a theater, down to the individual speaker with its own unique feed.
